Hi,

I took off the two element caps a few days ago to adjust the thermostats and turned them up to maximum. I got up this morning and found no hot water and the red fault light on.

I can't tell if the green light is on too, as the bulb is very, very dim. But the circuit board green light isn't on (behind the metal front cover).

Do you think this is from over-heating? Or any other matter. I am happy to have a go at minor adjustments, but as it is a privately rented property if anything ...

My pulsacoil is working well but I shall be away for more than 60 days on an extended holiday. My insurers say I need to turn off all water supplies at the mains.

In my user instructions it states that "this appliance should be left permanently connected to the off peak electrical supply and not switched on and off when hot water is needed" This requirement would result in my system heating water each night which will cool off during each day. I would therefore anticipate large electricity ...

I can get hot water only during peak hours and only when I press manually the boost button. If there is offpeak hour and when I press the boost button, the boost light doesnt light up and the heating is not on. After a while when pressing the boost button anytime I wanted to get hot water, the offpeak cable inside the timer burnt down. The make of the timer is Grasslin Economy 7 Quartz Hot Water Timer. I have replaced the timer, but there is still the same fault. The timer doesnt ...

Recently moved into a house with Simplee Solar panel linked to a Boilermate 2000 with a Solar Pod, as we learn to live with this interesting and idiocyncratic system I notice a few things:

Jumpers are on 1 and 4 only, there is a notice label regarding a jumper position on the 'white comms board' which I take to be the vertically oriented board just to the right of the main jumper board on the PCB, the position of this jumper determines the temperature the store reaches ...

I wonder if you can help. The hot water from my pulsacoil 2000, is very limited, one shower and the water runs luke warm. The timer is on cheap rate setting from midnight till 6am.

I have followed instructions on this site (which is a great help, thanks for setting it up!!) and have found the following things.

1. the header tank was empty-so filled it

2. the pump seemed weak so took off the cap and although on the 3rd setting was sending out a weak jet.

The pulsing is continueous regardless of demand from the taps !! Is this perhaps a problem with the pump circuit board ?

Hi , i have been asked to look at a boiler mate 2000 with no hot water. I have not worked on these before and from your forum think it will be the Dhw heat sensor but would like to check if there is any check for this or if you can bypass it to check it will work once replaced.customer had no instructions and the ones downloaded off gledhill dont seem to tell me much. Many thanks. Andy

Replacing my old Pulsacoil III

Hi,

I live in a flat which has a Pulsacoil III installed but I am now thinking of replacing it with something better and one that would provide enough water for a household of 3-4 people.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to which brand and what I should be looking for? I know almost nothing about water storage solutions but would welcome any suggestions.

How much does these storages typically cost including labour?

Many thanks in advance for any input.

Know have warm water for short period but isnt hot, also replaced the element stat with the original from the old gledhill element as i thought this maybe dodgy, but no difference.

This boiler has been installed in my house for 7 years with no real problems, and it actually does seem to be working fine heating / water wise.

However, I have an intermittent issue that's been getting worse for the last 6 months. It's a very loud vibration type noise that comes from the boiler several times per day.

Now, 6 months ago this would ONLY occur when I'm running a hot water tap, usually after a few minutes. The noise would normally go away by itself after ...

I have had my boilermate 11 for 10 years and have had it maintained each year, the present maintenance contract is with British Gas. Every time it is checked i get the same feedback from them which is that the sysytem is not very good and will not last long. That being said there has been nothing to replace in the 10 years so can't be that bad. The latest visit required a rope seal in the ideal classic boiler. One month later when i put the heater on there was a sound of gurgling ...

Just after a bit of advice please. About this time last year we noticed some water leaking from our Pulsa Coil 2000 - from the underside of the unit. We tried to contact Gledhill who asked if we were still within our 'covered' time being as the unit was installed when the flat was new. It is 5 ish years old. We were outside of the covered time to get it repaired. Over the course of the next couple of days - the dripping/leaking stopped (miracle!). It has been 'dry' all year - until ...

I have the classic problem with my Boilermate 2000, water running hot and cold. In the past I have been unaware what the problem is. Now I know I am going to try this myself. Is there anything that I have to be aware of or is this a staightforward repair/replacement, is there only one sensor that I need to replace?

I have a Boilermate 2 upstairs in bedroom (what stupid place to put it, its soooo noisy when on!) and a Baxi Solo 2 boiler downstairs. I have a Pulsacoil 2000 with no hot water. The store is cold which probably accounts for this.

I have 240V on the connector block for mains incoming and i have 240v on the incoming side

for the on peak element i have 0v ? the voltage at the element also reads 0v. Both elements read 19ohms

We've had a problem for some months now where the water at the hot taps soon runs cold (central heating is fine). If we switch to emergency however, either just water or heating and water, we get instant hot water back to the taps. If we switch back to normal then water soon begins to run cold again.
Mike

Thanks for the website! It has really helped me understand the system.

I want to do some work in the bathroom which involves moving a radiator and converting it into a towel rail. Now, I understand that I would need to switch off the boiler and BoilerMate II to stop it heating and pumping. Turn off the water inlet into the F&E tank. Then drain down the system using the drain cock on the lowest radiator to a level below that of the radiator I want to remove.

Boiler: Gledhill Boilermate OV A-Class

Term of use: We've had the boiler for 2 years

Problem: Central Heating 'Constant' not working

Summer has now passed and the cold days are settling in. Although we have the central heating set on timer for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening, we'd like to use the 'constant' switch feature in between to warm the house up when we want.

The problem is that this 'constant' switch feature is no longer working. Neither does the system ...

Hi,

I have a 9 year old Boilermate II in the house we have lived in for 4 years fitted with both a pipe based anti-scale device and a main water softener. Over this period all I have ever altered on the unit is the quirky summer/winter thermostat dependening on the season - it has always delivered adequate heating and hot water for our 5 bedroom/3 shower/1 bath house. However over the last 6 months, like many individuals here, we have noticed there being less hot water being available and ...

Hello. we have intermittent firing of boiler which occurs once or twice a fortnight then resolves itself. From previous posts sounds like DHW pump (sic) and/or circuit board issues.

But when it refuses to kick in, no hot water or heating and need to use Switch etc which isnt ideal.

Just had boiler (Ideal Slim 360) serviced and is on max etc.

Anyone nice enough to post what signs i should be looking for on the BM 2000 before i call someone out to look at this, then it would be much ...

This has been a recurring problem in the last 2 years. Very often it sorts itself out but not this time.

Around once or twice a year in the last 2 years, my electramate 2000 (not sure if its 9or 12w / 3yrs old) would stop giving hot water / heating for around 12 hrs. Then it would sort itself out. No switch off or any tinkering required.

Last week had the radiator pump replaced (2 yr old pump / no ceasing / replaced by electrician appointed by insurance company). Had no problem for ...

Hi,

My Pulsacoil 2000 makes a boiling noise for the entire night.
Could the thermastat be faulty?

If so how much would I expect to pay for a repair?

Please you recommend any reliable repairers who would cover Loughborough.

Thank you in anticipation of your help.

BM2 Backwash Overflow

Hi
Every time the Heating starts, a backwash flows into the expansion/inlet tank, at the top and overflows to the outside world.
This has only started happening just recently.
The Heating and Hot Water systems are fine...
Could you advise me as to why this is happening and offer me a solution ?
Regards

Hi A long one but I though I would try and give as much info as possible for anyone who is able to provide some help if you can.

I have a boilermate 3 upstairs and potterton suprima 70 boiler downstairs. The hot water is fine and I have no problems. I do have problems with the radiators particularly downstairs; these are cold. The one next to the potterton may be hot or warm. I have had British Gas out 4 times so far all giving different reasons for the problem.
