My pulsacoil is working well but I shall be away for more than 60 days on an extended holiday. My insurers say I need to turn off all water supplies at the mains.

In my user instructions it states that "this appliance should be left permanently connected to the off peak electrical supply and not switched on and off when hot water is needed" This requirement would result in my system heating water each night which will cool off during each day. I would therefore anticipate large electricity ...

Hi Mike

Great website, i have just had my Pulsacoil A Class repaired - looks like the relays burnt out, the engineer advised i buy a timer so that i can take advantage of the cheap electricity between 12-7am.

After speaking with my electricity supplier they said the economy 7 is not always the cheapest way, it depends on how much electric you use during the day (heating/washing machine/kettle etc)

Can you advise what sort of timer i would need to purchase to fit to the pulsacoil - also ...

The manual says that "they do not need annual servicing".

From the company going into receivership, to finding it near impossible to get someone to come and fix it.

Problem after problem. Is it really worth all the time and effort to still get nowhere?

We have a pulsa coil A class in a flat we moved into recently, its been working fine for a month, but just today started giving only tepid to lukewarm water. The indicator light was flashing. We switched the heater off for a minute and switched it back on and it was no use, we still get only tepid water. But the indicator light stopped flashing. We tried the black button, but nothing happened(the indicator light did not turn on). We will check out the thermal store in the evening. Any ideas ...

I have just been on holiday for 2 weeks but before I went I switched off the boiler at the wall (without realising that it should have been left on). When I came back I switched the boiler back on and had hot water for a week.

However, I now have no hot water but I have felt the DHW pump (I think? It is black in colour and looks like a pump) and it feels very hot but the pipes leading to and from it are luke warm. There seems to be no unusual noises coming from the unit.

1. I do not have a thermostat or a control panel to set the water temperature or when off-peak should be. Is this normal? All I have is two switches on the wall - 1 is always lit and is the main isolator switch; the second is also in the on position but I have never seen the lit on.

I think i have sorted out a reason for not getting as much hot water !!
You need to check the water level on the header tank on top of the unit, if it is below the pipe not water will be heated up and and sucking/blowing noise will come from the boiler.

Hoping you can help. Regardless of whether I use any hot water in a day simply having my Pulsacoil A Class boiler on consumes 8-9 units of electricity per day. I dont have an off peak supply as the builder didnt include this when they built the property hence i only use peak rate.

I did have a problem with the boiler a while back where the light was flashing rapidly which indicated some kind of emergen failiure. An engineer called out, fiddled about and stopped the light flashing. It seems ...

I am a plumber based in East London and was called out to a domestic dwelling yesterday to a pulsa coil a class. I have not come across one of these before, but have read information on them. The problem the customer is faced with is that at night the storage unit is not heating the water up ready for the morning. They have to use the boast. I plugged they bottom (E7) Element in to a plug to find out if it was working. After an hour and a half there was hot water, so now I am buggered beacause ...

Hi there,

I've just moved into a flat with a pulsacoil A-class thermal storage system. I'm keen to only use off peak electricity to heat up the pulsacoil and have set the off peak timer to come on at 1am and off at 7am.

There are 2 electric switches on the wall next to the pulsacoil. One says 'off peak' on it and includes the timer. I have left this on. The 2nd switch says 'on peak'. When this is switched on, you can press the boost button on the pulsacoil and it works.

However ...

Apologies for posting here despite already posting about the problem elsewhere, but in case someone (maybe living in the same area?) faces the same problems with their A-class, perhaps by the end of the thread there will be a solution for others.

Previously we had a manual timer installed with the A-Class boiler, which would break down every so often and need replacing. The way we found out was when there was no hot water and we would have to use the boost - this has always and consistently ...

Dear Mike

Thank you for your useful site, I am experieninge problems with the Pulsa Coil Class A boiler and have not hot water via timer (Nobo stem) nor using the Pulsa's off peak switch ... this leads me to think that it is an issue with the boiler (it is very noisy and makes gurgling noises). I have heard rumours that this type of boiler has a design fault, in your experience is this the case or am I just experiencing a glitch do you think? As I live in a new build property I'm trying ...

Hi,

So my initial problem was a burned out power relay. I smelt an electrical burning type smell, called an electrician out who fixed it right away.

Now I have hot water but the LED on the outside is flashing rapidly which means 'overheat safety trip' which continues even after pressing reset. The electrician is now stuck and can't help any more or offer me anyone else who might be able to help. Is there a thermistat that can be altered? Who should I ask to fix it now?

Any help greatly ...

Hi, can you please help me. I have a pulsacoil a class and when someone has a shower first in the morning the water is hot , but if i get in the shower after the water is cold. If i wait about 45 mins or an hour it is hot again. This only happens when it is cold outside, like when we have had the temperatures close to 0 degrees or in the minus. I have checked the expansion tank which is just under half full and i have checked the leds on the front of the pulsa but none of them are flashing. The ...
