A question for Mike or anyone that may know relating to my previous long email. I am told by British Gas that they will not powerflush a boilermate 3 central healting system. On your website it states that you can do this. Are BG referring only to their POwerflushTM or all flushing???

Might be worth reading the full article on my previous post for the full story

Hi A long one but I though I would try and give as much info as possible for anyone who is able to provide some help if you can.

I have a boilermate 3 upstairs and potterton suprima 70 boiler downstairs. The hot water is fine and I have no problems. I do have problems with the radiators particularly downstairs; these are cold. The one next to the potterton may be hot or warm. I have had British Gas out 4 times so far all giving different reasons for the problem.

Recently had the heat exchanger (i.e. the bif cast iron block) in our Suprima 40 spring a large water leak. Drained the system from a tap above the boiler. Water draining was rather slow but eventually stopped. Just had the plumber fit a new heat exchanger/boiler to the boiler but now there is no water flow into the boiler. There is plenty of water in the small header tank on top of the boiler mate III. Blowing up the drain valve (above the boiler in the kitchen) blows air up the return pipe ...

Hello,

I have a boilermate 3 and have had several engineers in since we moved in (for various reasons), and they all seem to say something different!

All I want to know is if it is essential to have the downstairs hallway radiator on 24/7 (ie, when the boiler fires up, it will always be hot - even in the summer!)

Initially we were told we could turn the bathroom radiator on instead and did this for a while, however when I had the next annual inspection, I was told no, it had to ...

I have a slow leak from what looks like a temperature sensor on one of the pipes going into my boilermate III. II have looked at the South East Green Energies website and I think the spare is a HE & DHW Temperature Sensor part GT153 but I am not sure. I would be really grateful if you could confirm this for me before I get it. Also is this the sort of thing I could fit myself? I guess I just drank teh main (large) tank and unscrew the sensor and wire the other end into the PCB?

Hi mike

I have a problem with hot water in that it starts hot then goes cool but not cold, Have cleaned in line filter but it hasn't helped. Read on your forum that it could be the hot water sensor, the store temperature sensor or the plate heat exchanger, but when running, the exchanger and pipe work to the pump is red hot then goes cool but the top of the exchanger is still very hot. If it's the heat exchanger how easy is it to change? can you help

thanks very much good web site

Having difficulties with my boilermate 3. For a while the central heating hasn't been switching off until you switch it off via the timer on the tank or switching off the tank itself. This is still pretty much the same but last week the hot taps started to run cold. Not sure if the hot water pump is turning but it has 240v at the pump terminals and isn't overly hot. System pump is working but 2 port valve sticking sometimes I think because of the central heating not switching ...

My Boilermate III system is very noisy, but only during the final few minutes of the cycle to heat up the thermal store. The noise can best be described as a loud tapping / hammering sound. Difficult to pinpoint the exact location - it could be coming from the boiler (a Potterton Suprima 40) but more likely from the Boilermate unit. The noise only occurs when the boiler flame is on. Occasionally, the same noise occurs when the central heating has been on for a long time, but never as loud. ...

We have a Potterton Suprima 40 boiler with Boilermate III thermal storage in our property. The boiler was locking out several times a day which was pinned down to a faulty PCB and was replaced yesterday. Boiler fires fine now and we're getting scalding hot water but the central heating wont turn ON (thermostat set at 24 C). Grateful if you could shed some light on the problem & happy to provide more info if needed.

Hi,

Following the 'commonly asked questions' on the www.boilermate-repairs.co.uk website it seems the problem i have with my central heating system is a Diverter Valve failure; my radiators are constantly on full heat regardless of adjusting the room thermostat. I'm not sure where exactly my Diverter Valve is though...? i've looked in my user manual and theres no indication of such valve...? Is it also known as a 3 port valve by any chance? Any help will be much appreciated...
