Top tank had emptied, and I think something has blown...

Post  robhealy on Sun Nov 20, 2011 6:27 pm

I heard some strange knocking from the appliance and upon looking in the cupboard found some rusty coloured water on the carpet. The plastic expansion tank had emptied unexpliccably, which I have now re-filled. There is no hot water now so I guess something serious has happened.
I am able to get some hot water on the Boost facility, but this won't be a long-term solution.
Any ideas please?

If you have no leaks.
And the top tank has remained full since you filled it.
Then it sounds as if the unit overheated.
This can and will sometimes chuck the water out of the top tank.
The sensors and relays need top be checked.
Look on here for some one; Home page list of advertisers.
Or Google for one in your area.
If you need the manual for your unit, you can down load one for free from Gledhill website for free.
