boilermate A class problem Empty boilermate A class problem

Post  iain izatt Tue Dec 20, 2011 2:03 am

Hello

I have a boilermate A class connected to a Ideal Icos HE12, this weekend I have heard what sounds like air in the pipes going to the boiler, this goes on for a bit then the boiler burners go off and then shortly after the boiler fires again. The header tank is full of water and is quite hot, the white light on the front of the boiler flashes when the burners go off and is steady when the boiler is running. there are no errors displayed on the front panel of the boiler mate and the PCB inside is displaying R,L.

any suggestions would be gratefully received

Thanks

Iain

Drain a few litres out of the unit, to check it is taking water.
If it does not, then blocked cold feed.
Or you may have a sludge problem in the boiler pipes.
Or the boiler pump in the unit may be faulty.
Have you tried venting the system?

Hi Mike

thanks for the reply, I am planning to drain some water out of the system when it is cold via the drain valve just above the boiler this is because the header tank did have a lot of dirt in it however it was static. the tank has been cleaned out and I have added some extra inhibitor which can enter the system when I drain if some water.

How can I check that the pump is pumping efficiently?

thanks in advance

Iain

You can check the voltage.
You can remove the vent screw and place finger to feel if working and if lazy.
Feel the flow and return pipes.
Not being rude, perhaps you need to get an expert in.
When you error / display R L where is that.
