Inconsistent heating Empty Inconsistent heating

Post  Helenriley76 Tue Jan 03, 2012 6:55 am

I have a boilermate 2000 and a Suprima 70 and an inconsistent heating supply, which works normally some days and not others.

I have run through the temp checks in the manual and they do not show any errors. I have noticed that the problem appears to occur when the store temp drops below 50. I understand that if this happens it won't call the boiler for heat. Eventually it does heat the water back up and the store gets back up to temperature. Whilst it is doing this I have noticed that the boiler often indicates is about to come on but doesn't for ages, or if it does it is only very briefly, i.e. a minute or so. Is this because the house is up to temp and the thermostat switches it off? If so shouldn't it keep heating the store until up to temp?

When it is like this the hot water appears to run low as well when showering I assume because the store temp is too low. However, if I run a hot tap it will call the boiler and fire up as I assume it should.

In the last year, the pcb on the boiler has been replaced twice, so I don't think there is a problem with this. Any ideas ??

Boilermate 2000
You will NOT get any heat unless the unit is 60c or more.
This give hot water priority so to speak.
Make sure your boiler is on max setting.
And run all the time.
If you use lots of hot water you will lose the heating until the unit restores itself.

Thanks mike, when you say run all the time do you mean have the heating running all the time?

No but run your boiler and the BM2000 all the time.
Use heating when ever, but remember the 60C rule.
Your unit could be undersized for the house.
This sometimes happens.

Hi mike

I have done as you said and made sure the boiler is on max and left the boiler and bm2000 on permanently. (wouldnt now hiw to turn them off anyway!) Heating is working better now and is more responsive when the thermostat is turned up which is wasn't previously.

One last question, when the temp of the store does drop below 60c, how does it heat back up? Should the boiler fire up and heat it? If so, the boiler appears to be flashing green, but doesn't fire up. My plumber thinks that the sensor for the store pump may be faulty and suddenly kicks in when it does decide to work. (nb.The other 2 have been replaced previously).

Right.
Make sure the unit is hot (BM2000)
Turn the boiler down low or off.
Run the heating and or hot water.
This will drop the temperature.
After a period of time. Turn the boiler back to max. It should fire.
The boiler man must then check to see if there is a switched live at the boiler.
If there is and the boiler does not fire, then it points to boiler. Or the BM2000 boiler pump or flow and return pipe work.
If the is no switched live and the unit temperature has been dropped or lowered.
Then it could be a sensor or a PCB problem.
Very hard with out being in front of the BM2000.

Hi
I am afraid I will not answer any further queries ref your BM 2000.
Until you confirm your findings from my last post.
Yes there are other things. But all in and orderly way.
