Boilermate 2000 / Potterton Suprima: Heating keeps coming on despite not askin it to????

Post  RosQ33 on Fri Mar 09, 2012 2:45 pm

Hi,
I wondered if anyone can help. We have a Boilermate 2000 & a Potterton Suprima boiler. I live in a house which is only about 9 years old so the thermal storae and the boiler are not too old!

Over the last couple of weeks we have noticed that the heating keeps coming on by itself. We have set the thermostat to its lowest position and have turned off the manual timer on the Boilermate so that we are not calling for any heating. The Potterton boiler keeps firing up and there is a strange noise coming from it that I have not noticed before.

I have been on some other websites and some people have mentioned a "3-way valve" and also a "switcher" that could be causing the problems.

On this forum it seems to be the ACB Board.

Can anyone shed any light onto this?

Many thanks,

Boilermate 2000.
As long as the timer and stat checks out ok.
Then most likely the Main PCB (ACB)
With timer off and stat to zero.
Check to see if there is a voltage at the heating pump (middle one)
If there is then main PCB.
