Stats and sensor replaced 2 weeks ago... no hot water randomly again

Post  Boilerbainofmylife on Tue May 08, 2012 4:48 am

HELP! My flat has a Pulsacoil 2000 which was overheating and tripping out every now and again. It became more frequent so I got Gledhill round and they replaced both Stats and the sensor. It was working fine until 2 weeks later when I unexplainably had no water in the morning. The unit was warm but not hot water was available. Any idea what this could be now? Pump? Faulty sensor? Ive got a Gledhill engineer coming again tomorrow and I would love to have a definitive list of things it could be so he can replace all the necessary parts!! Also I have a timer for the peak boost supply. What is the recommended period to have the booster programmed to come on in order to get hot water for something like a shower?

If the unit is not hot= no hot water at the taps.
Boost 1 to 2 hours should heat the top of the unit enough for a decent shower.
Always feel the big pipe on top of the unit.
It needs to be hot!
100% in the morning when it has heated up on the off peak.
Checked your water level in the top tank?
To heat the water you have 2 heaters and stats.
When the unit is hot;
You have;
2 sensors
Pump
Pump drive PCB.
Very dear to replace all!

I would strongly recommend that you allow the engineer to carry out a complete diagnostic on your system. If he truly is a Gledhill Repair specialist, you won't need to tell him his job. It most likely will be one part causing the fault, if it is a fixed price repair charge then most likely they won't replace all parts.
