Re: fuse on pcb keeps blowing.
Usually caused by water in the pump windings. Prove by disconnecting the pump wire and replacing the fuse again.

Cheers Mike, I worked this out for myself in the end, I replaced the pump, the pump valves only stopped 95% of the water subsequently I splashed the new pump with what only seemed like a dribble of water, this was enough to short the new pump out and instead of blowing the fuse again it just burnt out a traic on the top left of the pscv pcb, Iam going bck on tuesday which will be the 5th visit to this British Leyland Pulsacoil 1983 to drain it down then change the pump so it doesnt get splashed again, 5 visits and I will be £150 ish out of pocket.
My fault I know, but this has been 1 of 2 jobs in 14yrs that has given me sleepless nights, Iam just gonna draw a line under it and put it down to experience. Thanks again Mike for the reply though.

Re: fuse on pcb keeps blowing.
I drained down the Pulsacoil today to fit the new pump and board, took 30ins to drain it off, fitted new pump and board, it took 4hrs to refill ,I was tempted to back fill it off the mains via the drain off but that would of probably ended in tears.
I fired her up only to discover there was a dhw sensor fault, If i pushed hard onto the wire as it went into the sensor it worked again.
7th visit and a 2 day wait for the new sensor it is then, looking back if id have found this excellent forum earlier I could have cut that down to 3 visits.
Live and learn!.
