Replacing a Pulsacoil 2000 Empty Replacing a Pulsacoil 2000

Post  vogonm Sun Sep 15, 2013 12:47 pm

Hello,

I'm looking to replace our Pulsacoil 2000 - it's 11 years old and has started leaking now - and was wondering if you had any advice for what to replace it with (i.e. a direct replacement) and cost. We live in a 2 bedroom flat, have one bathroom and the shower is electric.
We mainly want something reliable...
We've had a quote for a 210 litre Santon Premier Plus, but I haven't seen much information (or indeed opinions) about this make/model.
210 litres seems a bit big for our humble needs...?
Also do you have any recommendations for engineers, who would install in the Bristol area ?
And is a price in the region of £1500 (for removal and installation) what to expect ?
Any thoughts about any of the above would be welcome.

Thanks for any advice,

vm

Hi
Yes 210 L is quite massive for your Flat , but all depending on your required amount of hot water. If you on ECO7 ( of peak electric ) and you want 2 good shower and a bath and water for washing up and..and.... yes you would need the 210. If you go for a ECO10 you would be ok with a 180 L. Your quoted £1500 including installation and disposal of the old unit is a very good offer. Also have a sneak around at this forum , the question of adequate replacement boiler was answered many times. I personal would go for a Gledhill Pulsacoil BP. No electronic , no Pump, just two immersion and a exchanger-coil, simple. You also could go for a Gledhill Torrent ( similar function ,but different design) . As always, this comes down to :how big is your budget.
