Hi,

Had a problem with my shower running hot then slowly getting colder and colder. Found 170v at the PHE pump also the DHW sensor is intermittent with a cable fault.

I can get the sensor to work (obviously this will be changed) but the pump was still at 170v. Found the black Filtana FS400 1000 PCB mounted part was buzzing. (assuming this was a relay). Turns out this unit pulled off the PCB leaving the legs soldered onto the PCB. Didn't take much effort to pull it off either!

This is obviously what is at fault as it was not making a good contact with the legs. Does anyone know where to source one of these? or even what it is? from some googling I've managed to find it may be a choke relay. I've managed to fashion it back onto the legs and now its putting 190v down to the pump. Just enough to get the pump spinning.

Any help is much appreciated,

Cheers

Jamie

Found the data sheet for anyone who is interested

(Remove Spaces)

Very easy to make one yourself with some bits from RS or Maplins. Saves £250 on a new board!

This is not relay, this is just filter on power line. I'm sure it is not faulty. Coils tend to buzz. I'd recommend to solder it back. If it was faulty you would not have power after it. As for 170V on PHE pump, it should be because main PCB adjust speed of the pump by modulating power on the pump and maximum I saw was around 170V-180V. Change sensor and if it doesn't help(i'm sure it won't, sorry) then I suspect your main problem is PHE plate exchanger. Scaled.

Yeah, that's exactly what it is. Smoothing coil. Only a capacitor and inductor! Voltage been controlled up and down perfectly when more/less demand is called for.

Re-soldered back to board, it was loose so obviously better to have found it now. Tie wraps on the sensor cables were extremely tight and had been nipping the cable causing problems with the sensors. Cut them off, wiggled the cables about and fault would not replicate no matter how hard I tried. Fitted some new ties and its spot on now.

Got 2 new sensors ordered for dhw sensor and phe sensor. Doesn't look like they've ever been replaced in 10 years so think its best to do them.

Cheers!
