7 Day digital programmer on A-Class

Post  MaidstoneGulfstream on Sat Dec 22, 2012 1:41 pm

Evening All,

I have a Gledhill Gulfstream A Class 12-0V/SS installed upstairs with a standard Siemens thermostat downstairs in the hallway.

Does anyone know if I can install a programmable 7 day digital thermostat in place of the standard analogue timer on the boiler / Siemens thermostat in the hallway? I did my C&G Water Regs (Fittings) 1999 course last week and the guy taking the course told me it was possible, but couldn't really elaborate in any detail how I should install it?

Any help would be very, very much appreciated!

Thanks in advance guys.

Easiest way should / would be.
Leave the timer on constant.
Remove existing room stat and fit a programmable one.
You should find when checking your room stat that there will be
A live
A neutral
A switched live
And an earth.
Next check out which programmable room stat you want.
I prefer Honeywell to the rest.
The choice of room stats is varied indeed, I would check a few out.
Read the installation instructions on a few and you will / should see what I mean.

Thanks Mike, I was looking at a Siemens programmable stat and see that they do a single channel and a two channel version? How do I know which one I need?

Thanks again for your help!

Well never heard of a 2 channel room stat.
2 or 3 channel programmer / time clock yes.
2 channel programmer for a Y plan or S plan system Hot water and heating.
3 channel for say an S plan plus system
Which would be hot water
Down stairs heating zone
Upstairs heating zone or what have you.
You need to look a bit more and study before you buy / fit.
