Recommended replacement boiler?

Post  Roggie2 on Sun Jan 06, 2013 4:40 am

Hi folks,
I have an 11 year old house built with a Boilermate 2000 system. Boiler is a Glowworm Micron 60FF installed in a kitchen wall cupboard.
I moved in 7 years ago and immediately fitted an electronic scale inhibitor to the house water supply inlet pipe as this is a hard water area.
Everything is working, but I'm considering replacing the boiler with a more efficient condensing unit. As it only has to cope with heat call from the Boilermate, it doesn't need to have lots of bells and whistles. What boiler would you recommend?
I mentioned hard water and wonder if the plate heat exchanger could do with replacement? Shower water starts cold (obviously) then gets really hot, then goes cold, finally settling down to a reasonable temperature.
Final point, the central heating pump is a bit rumbly. Ideally, getting everything done together would seem to be sensible. All opinions gratefully received.

A good boiler?
Is there one?
Ref; BM 2000.
You would be best to go through the posts on here in the BM 2000 section.
That will be more helpful to you. And will give you all the info you require.
