Isolating boilermate from boiler Empty Isolating boilermate from boiler

I am awaiting my landlord replacing the leaking boiler within my system, which means I currently have no hot water at all.

Whilst the Boilermate can be operated in 'switch' mode, I can find no way to ensure no water reaches the boiler itself - there seem to be no isolating valves on the feeds to/from the boiler, and only a square socketed key on one of the pipes above the boiler. I do not have a square socket/body key however I'm guessing this is actually the cleaning plug rather than a valve.

If I could ensure no water would reach the boiler, I could at least operate the boiler in switch mode.

Not possible unless you drain down and isolate the boiler.
Your land lord really should have got that done.

Yep, agreed, but given the time of year we/he is struggling to get someone to replace the boiler.

However, if 'we' got a plumber out could we look at putting some isolation valves in line with the piping to/from the boiler?

(I've already drained the system and isolated the cold inlet to the boilermate to ensure I can still have cold water) - which is scant consolation at the moment to be honest.

If I don't get any progress I might just do that myself!!! Is there any particular type of self tapping valve which would be recommended? We need heat!!

Thanks
Steve

I would drain the boiler.
Cut the pipes.
Fit 2 x 22 mm isolating valves and fit 2 blank ends as well.
All then is easy when the guys need to drain when fitting the new boiler.
