XB241 or XB001 for boiler pump on BM210?
The current boiler pump (an XB241 15/60) has failed (leaking and the 5a slow blow fuse on pcb keeps blowing), the heating engineer purchased an XB004 15/50 as a replacement before deciding the job was not for him. Can you please advise if the XB004 is a suitable replacement and what the consequences of using it might be. I'm keen to get on and replace the unit given the cold weather and would rather not have to wait until next week to get a replacement.
I've also noticed that the middle red capacitor near the pump connection to the pcb (bottom right of pcb) is also blackened. Is it likely that this has also burnt out? Could I change the pump and try it with the old pcb or is this likely to cause more damage.
Thanks

Model number
Hi,
This is a Boilermate 2000. On page 2 of the manual under technical data it describes the different sizes. The one I have is called the BM210 designed for 3-5 bed homes. We have 2 baths and 3 showers. The model number on the actual unit is ABC2179 BM210/H/EMC/SW, serial number 0003392702, made 21 Sept 2001, storage capacity is 170l.
I hope this is the information you need.
Thanks

Re: XB241 or XB001 for boiler pump on BM210?
As stated before, you can use any standard Grundfoss pump as Boiler Pump or Heating Pump ( left and middle Pump on BM2000)
This is a easy question to answer.
Is the Pipe work at the Pump 28mm? yes, use the 15/60 Pump,
is the Pipe work 22mm , Yes ? use the 15/50 Pump
the 15/50 as the replacement ( for a 15/60) for the Heating Pump , means, the Radiators may warm up 5 min. slower, as Boiler Pump this may can course problems with the Gas boiler, ( overheating )
to your Problem with the PCB, you mentioned the "bottom capacitor" next to the LED? if I am right, this is the triaxe for the Boiler Pump, so your PCB is gone as well, you need an new PCB.
With this PCB your Gas Boiler will rumble and bang like hell and then stop working.
I hope this helps

Mario gave you the answer.
It is complicated though as the Gledhill books are not clear enough.
That is why;
On any Gledhill unit which uses sensors and PCB to determine the hot water temperature. The DHW pump must be the CORRECT ONE
On all the units.
You will have Grundfos pumps 15/50 0r 15/60 for the boiler and heating
The 15/50 is a 5 metre head. The 15/60 a 6 metre head.
If interested then Google up water / head of water.
The 15/60 will be used on the larger units.
I would always use Grundfos pumps on any system as I consider them the best.
Beware also of just changing the pump head.
As the pump body / base can be badly scaled too.
I have put new pump heads on and could hear them touching / scraping the scale.
If you try cleaning you must remove any bits (wet and dry hoover) if not they will get trapped in the pump impeller.
