what is it? Jumpers?
Hi everyone!
Recently moved into a house with Simplee Solar panel linked to a Boilermate 2000 with a Solar Pod, as we learn to live with this interesting and idiocyncratic system I notice a few things:
Jumpers are on 1 and 4 only, there is a notice label regarding a jumper position on the 'white comms board' which I take to be the vertically oriented board just to the right of the main jumper board on the PCB, the position of this jumper determines the temperature the store reaches in one or two stages, there is no jumper present here. The label also refers to a 'Retromate' is this what I have got? How is it different to BM?
It has only two pumps, the heating (radiator circuit) pump being used to double as the boiler pump, the two circuits being separated by a motorised valve. Is this an acceptable arrangement? Recently I have noticed radiators getting warm (not hot) when the hot water has been on but not the heating, a leaky valve perhaps or indicative of something...? We did used to find some warmth in radiators back in the summer when the heat came from the solar panel and 'leaked' out of the thermal store, passive conduction from hot to cold?
Final point for today, the hot water pump is often running in the small hours when no hot water is being drawn, most odd.
Thank you for reading, any ideas gratefully received.
Thanks,
Ben

Re: what is it? Jumpers?
Hi Ben,
Sorry, I'm mystified on this one. Your decription does not sound at all like a conventional Boilermate 2000. Nor have I encountered a 'Solar Pod' so far in my Gledhill repairing career! All the Boiler 2000s I've ever seen have three pumps and a single control board. Are you sure yours isn't a Sytemate? They have the two pump arrangement you describe.
I'm afraid I can't help you beyond that.
Cheers, Mike

What is it?
Hi Mike,
thank you for your reply and taking the time to consider my problem. Since posting my query I have spoken to somebody at Gledhill who confirmed that it is a 'Systemate': the labels on the unit do say Boilermate 2000 but it is configured as Systemate and the two jumpers (1 and 4) are correct.
Pump running in the night: most likely a faulty sensor.
Thanks again Mike, great forum, keep up the good work. I'll keep you posted with any more knowledge I can glean.
Cheers! Ben
