For the last 24 hours it sounds like someone is running a tap for hot water briefly for 5 seconds every 20-60 minutes or so.

It seems like the boiler mate is drawing water then stops with a clunk.

Also for a long time now our bath runs cold then hot then cold for the duration.

Any advice appreciated? Can any plumber sort these problems or is best to go with the gledhill authorised

this sounds like a sensor problem, if the sensor is reading wrong, the PCB is sometimes recognising a hot water demand where there isn't and is starting the Pump ( sounds like water is running) also check the contended of your top tank ( the gray or black " header Tank" , the F & E Tank, may in the loft)
hope this helps a bit
