Turning on the shower powers radiators? Empty Turning on the shower powers radiators?

Post  CAE94 Tue Aug 27, 2013 5:16 am

Just noticed our upstairs radiators on last night after ! got out of the shower! The setting on front of the Boilermate was set at permanently 'off'.. it's happened again this morning.

We had the left hand pump replaced a few weeks back, it was leaking slightly and tripping the upstairs main switch, I haven't noticed the rads coming on before today so can only assume the 2 things are not connected as I feel sure I'd have noticed earlier.

We have a Gloworm micron 50ff on the groundfloor and live in a 3 story town house and the boilermate is effectively on the second floor.

Any ideas please ladies and gents? I have read it could be a new board which I understand will be costly to fit?

Thanks Mike .. I haven't turned the stat down to zero yet but will do so when I get my next shower... is this as bad as it's likely to get do you think? .. By that I mean, if it is 'just' the rads coming when I shower on I can make do for now, however if there are other problems likely to occur I'll get it sorted... just shelled out £300 for a pump replacement so could do without the bill for now!

Any idea on a ballpark figure to replace the board?

I don't sink there is any bigger thing to worry about, as you saying, the pump was replaced recently, there could be a little air in the system, coursing an gravity flow and warming slightly some radiators. course the BM2000 is open vented, this should vent out automatically in a short period of time.
hope this helps
