Can I add a different thermostat Empty Can I add a different thermostat

We've got a Boilermate 2000 with switch, the boiler is an Ideal Classis FF370 and there is a hall thermostat (honeywell rotary dial).
One of the plastic legs has snapped in the Honeywell so it's awkward to control and needs replacing.

The thermo is in the hallway which gets quite cold even when the other rooms are warm so setting this to an ideal temp is a fine art.

Rather than replace with another Honeywell rotary I was wondering if it can be replaced with a thermo that has a timer or maybe a wireless remote thermostat that could be placed in one of the warmer rooms.

Of course you can fit a different wall thermostat. I am always fit and recommended the danfoss TP5000si, you get this thermostat also as a remote one, to take your hand set in the room you like. By the way, this thermostat is used from Gledhill on the Electramate boiler as well.( XB365 part number)
all you have to be careful with is , this room stat requires !!!! ONLY Live and SWITCH LIVE!!!!! do not connect the neutral at all on the stat.
hope this helps Mario

I never got round to replacing the Honeywell with a more inteligent one and just did a like for like swap but I have now been offered a Siemens RDJ10RF for free (never used, bought in error and stored in a cupboard)

In the Honeywell, there are 4 terminals + earth, 1 is live, 2 is neutral 3 is heating load.

In the Siemens there is Live & Neutral then there are 3 othere terminals
L1 = N.O Call For Heat (On)
LX = Common
L2= N.C Heating Satsfield (Off)
there is a note that says L2 Not normally used.

I'm not sure whether i should connect to L1 or LX with the yellow cable that currently goes to 3 in the Honeywell thermostat. Can anybody advise ?
