Pulsacoil A class - how to set up new time
Good afternoon to everyone.
I am a tenant. I got problem with my boiler Pulsacoil A class. Its set up boils my water from midnight till 3.00 am. Water is enough hot for around 12 hours. But I need to set up new times. The first one from 4.00 a.m. and the second from 4.00 p.m. How to do this?

Re: Pulsacoil A class - how to set up new time
Hi Bluebird
First, a foe basic things, Is your Pulsacoil on an wall timer? ( I guess not) If yes, simply add some more hours on your timer ,but remember, this is an immersion heated cylinder ,so you have to add the extra hours to heat the water before you want to use it.
If not, this means your off peak is timed directly from your electric meter. In this instance, you have to call your energy supplier (EON or British Gas or Southern electric or....) to ask for a change of your existing tariff to an economy 10 tariff. If they response with a no , or not in your aria, say simple, then you will find another supplier how will get you economy 10. mostly this is doing the trick. If not ask other supplier, you are willing to swop if they can supply you with economy 10.
hope this helps Mario

A big thanks Mario.S for very fast reply.
The problem is a can not find any timer. Either an wall nor built-in. I even checked a manual guide book and no luck. So probably you are right saying it is timed directly from my electric supplier which is Southern Electric. But my wife has already called them and she was told to call an electrician to deal with. So it seems to me now SE is employing some clueless people. Ok I will call them again and will do what you said.
By the way do you know which supplier is the best (I mean the cheapest) on the market now? There is two of us + a baby on the way in my flat. I already checked uswitch but I would like to know your opinion too.

Southern electric is doing so kind of " heat wise " or" super deal" tariff, this is also economic 7 , but with 5 h over night and 2 h in the afternoon. I also know, southern and scottish electric is also doing economic10. The rates are on all almost identical, so no matters the company, the only different is the exact hours of the supply. But this will always be rather 7h ( economic 7) or 10 h ( economic10).
As I guess you living in the south and not in Scotland ( as in Scotland also is a economic18 tariff available) there should be no problem to find a supplier for economic10 electric. You only have to make clear to them, if they can't supply the 10 , you will swop to someone who can. They don't like customers moving of to other supplier, so they will give you watt you want, if you mention you will go to someone other. As economic 10 is not promoted, course , you can save money and their margin will be smaller. As with two of you and a baby you will need economic 10.

Hi Mario.S.
You are right. I am living in London :-) OK I wil call Southern Electric, but before I call them, could you assure me this Pulsacoil A class bolier has not got a timer built-in please? I could not find anything but you as experienced engineer should know well.
Thanks in advance
