Cold water despite DHW sensor replaced and PCB flashing normally

Post  TimD on Sun Feb 02, 2014 5:38 am

Hi Mike,

Struggling to self-diagnose this one! Can you help please?

A couple of days ago the water went cold. I saw that the PCB had started flashing 7/7, so I replaced the DHW sensor and the PCB is back to the normal 2/2 time, but there's still no warm water. It's not as icy as the cold tap, but definitely not warm enough for a shower! The pipes coming out of heat exchanger don't seem to be warm.

The pump is running and the tank on the top of the unit is full.

Is there anything I can do myself, or is this likely to be a job for an engineer??

Cheers,
Tim

Is the unit hot?
Grab the big pipe coming out of the top of the unit.
If you can hold it for long. Then it is not hot enough.

Until about half an hour ago, no. But happy to say it is now! I unscrewed the two black plastic caps and reset the thermostats. I guess they tripped when the sensor failed?

I wouldn't have got to this point without your site, so thanks for maintaining it! Really appreciate places like this.

Check the heaters are not leaking.
Are the stats sealed?
