Systemate 2000 - Rads spontaneously heating up... Empty Systemate 2000 - Rads spontaneously heating up...

Hopefully someone can help with this as I'm slowly going mad... I'll give you the short version here... 2 weeks ago a pipe burst so naturally my boiler shut down. The guys who came to sort it out fixed the burst pipe and fitted a new pump (the left one) as they said it was leaking a little. Then when everything was switched back on again, the radiators started to get really hot even though the room thermostat was off. After fiddling about with the Systemate wiring, room stat, etc for a few hours and then returning for a fourth time to fit a new circuit board, they left and said that hopefully once the water had heated up, the radiators would go off and then everything would be back to normal... BUT, although the rads did cool down and go off, they spontaneously decided to come back on again later in the evening, even though the room thermostat was still off.

So at the moment, I can use the room stat to turn the central heating (rads) on when I need to, but when they're off for a few hours, something happens to the systemate which switches the rads back on again, even though the room stat hasn't been turned up or on.

Being someone who knows absolutely nothing about all of this, I'm very confused and this is costing me a lot of money. They've already spent 11 hours here and fitted a new circuit board which is apparently another £237.50.

Mike - do you have any idea why the rads might be coming on, even though the thermostat hasn't been clicked on? And if so, what could I do?!

Many thanks,
Nick

Hi Brightside - did you get this issue resolved? If so what was the issue? I have the same problem.

Hi

The Gledhill Systemate 2000 and the Boilermate 2000 look like very similar units but work differently, although many plumbers are unaware of this and treat the Systemate just like a Boilermate.

The Systemate 2000 has non return valves (one way walves) fitted in the brass section of all 3 of the pumps, and this is to prevent heat circulating through the radiators when the store is reheating and there is no demand from the time clock / room thermostat to supply central heating.
The most probalbe cause of your problem is that the plumbers have either not refitted the non return valve when they changed the pump or that the non return valve has become faulty (part number GT048).

Replacing this part should rectify your trouble.

Hi Guys

I am also having the same problem when Hot taps are turned on - Radiators get Hot ?

Have an annual Breakdown  Support Contract but engineer called out on Tuesday just changed the Control Board and left saying everything was fine ?? 10 minutes after
he left the radiators got hot again?  Have placed another engineer callout for today for exactly same problems?

I understand that there are 3 Non Return Valves, (1) for each pump.  How do we know which valve to change? or do we replace all 3 whilst system is drained down,

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Delboy

Hi again

Just like to add that 2nd engineer came yesterday morning, closed system down and was able to remove Space Heating Pump & defective valve without
draining down.

System was back up and running within 2 hours, so I am really pleased with that.

Thanks for looking.
