BM2000 - Boiler not working

Post  sbchapman on Thu Oct 02, 2014 5:27 am

Hi, I have BM2000 with Solarpod installed for ~10 years with an external roomstat wired to 8,9,10,11 and a dual channel CH timer on 21, 22 allowing me to control when the boiler is called. It allows solar to operate as primary during the day and the boiler is only activated in the evenings or when the CH pump is running.

This has worked fine for years, however after our amazing 2014 summer I now need to manually override or top up the store occasionally before the CH is on regularly. I've found if I manually boost or turn the boiler on via the timer it no longer works UNLESS I switch the CH on and then off again. As soon as the CH switches off, the boiler activates and you see the boiler LED light on the ACB.

I was wondering if the "smart" ACB has decided it is no longer needed for DHW alone, and will only call the boiler when the CH is on?!
So I want to recommission the ACB, and I've read the posts about jumper 5.

Can you confirm this is the correct procedure:
* Turn off BM200
* Remove all jumpers, set jumper 5
* Turn on, allow for self tests and leave (for how long?)
* Turn off, replace jumpers 1,3 & 4
* Turn on

I'd read somewhere you need to recommission if a new boiler is fitted - is this the case? I couldn't find it this time I searched.

Thanks, Steve

I investigated some more this morning. The timer is a Drayton LP722, it seems to be faulty as I disconnected it and did some diagnostics off the BM2000. Same issues existed (i.e. HW/Boiler circuit not activated without CH being switched off), so I've ordered a new one.

It should be;
1, 3 & 4 on
Add jumper to 5.
Switch on and wait.
When ON appears.
Take off jumper 5. Switch on and done.

Thanks Mike.
All done, I previosuly thought I had to REMOVE 1,3,4 before adding 5. doh.

I did it and "ON" shows, plus two horizontal bars at the top of the display. Are you aware of any way to restart the initial commissioning process so it runs the boiler and determines the optimal store temperate, or is this managed during normal operation? (I recall there being some way of doing this if a new boiler is fitted?)

Will confirm all OK when new timeswitch arrives.

All sorted. The timer WAS faulty. Thanks for your help Mike.
Still not 100% on the recommissioning though, but I'll keep researching.
