Pump from gledhills seems wrong Empty Pump from gledhills seems wrong

Post  life of bryan Sat May 04, 2013 11:21 am

I have a job on an electramate 2000 where the element was boiling up and tripping the overheat switch,it has a Bosch pump fitted under the element that was noisy so I ordered an XB004 from Gledhills but when I took it to site it is exactly the same as the top 2 pumps and it pumps downwards the same which is wrong for the bottom pump which needs to pump upwards. Gledhills is closed till Tuesday now due to the bank holiday but before I approach them to say I have received the wrong part does anyone know the different part number to ask for or even if this pump can be split and the bottom part turned round so it pumps the wright way? Any info would be gratefully received.

Undo the allen key bolt (4)
And turn the pump head round.

Thanks for the reply,I wasnt sure if splitting it would ruin the pump or wouldnt work the other way round.

No it will be fine.
If still in doubt.
Check out the Grundfos pump website.

Yep just undoing the bolts and turning the head sorted this out for me, never had to turn the head on a pump before so just wanted to be safe than sorry. Just on a side note as this was the bottom pump which is prone to water ingress which can knacker up the pump and main board I improvised some protective plastic over the plastic pump cover to prevent this.

Be careful as they run very hot.
Kitchen foil just over the terminal cover might be better!

Yeah its only on over the top of the terminal cover but I like your idea of foil.

Turning the pump head round will not make any difference to direction of flow, as pump will still turn in the same direction.

Turn the pump to the direction you want.
And set the pump head in the position you prefer.

Ps;
Been out to a BM II
The pump was pumping against the direction arrow.
Had been for years.
Sorted now though.
