Immersion powered by Solar Switch
I have a Boilermate A-Class SP.
I am looking to dump excess electricity from my PV solar panels into the immersion heater on the Boilermate. There is a commercially available solar switch that does this with a conventional immersion heater. www.solariboost.co.uk
My thoughts are, to switch off the gas water heater during the day, and allow the immersion to do it's thing in the Boilermate. If this was a conventional immersion heater, then the solar power would just be dumped into the immersion heater circuit at the distribution board.
Obviously, this is not an option with the Boilermate. I'm looking for advice, to pass on to my electrical installer, as to where he can fit an in-line unit, similar to the www.solariboost.co.uk to power the immersion heater.
If anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it. Bear in mind I'm not in the trade, but only trying to understand this system to guide an electrical install, to make the most of the green energy I'll be producing.
Thanks, Chris.

It would be better to speak to Gledhill.
Or look on their website at the existing solar units.
See how they handle it.
