Boilermate 2000 two channel programmer Empty Boilermate 2000 two channel programmer

Post  Mark_84 Tue Jan 06, 2015 3:14 pm

I have wired in a two channel programmer to my boilermate to replace the mechanical one. All is working as expected apart from when the heating & hot water are off the boiler still fires. I have checked the connections on the boilermate and the boiler only has an earth, neutral & live on 4,5 & 6 on the bottom terminal block. I assume the live needs to be moved to either the switched live on terminal 7 or an alternative so that the boiler comes on when the pump is powered? I have read the manual for the Ideal slimline classic boiler and it only has earth, neutral and live connections. The boiler manual also advised against letting the boiler fire without the pump of the boilermate running so I have left the hot water permanently on on the new programmer for now.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Mark

I think I have just answered my own question with thanks to Warp_speed who posted the below on the 10/05/14

jytillier I had the same issue with my boilermate 2000. Boiler would constantly switch on every 5 - 10 minutes with no demand signal from the boilermate. Turns out the house builders didn't wire my boiler in correctly. I have an ideal classic se12FF which only has the power input coming into the boiler coming from the boilermate.

They wired it in to Neutral and permanent live and NOT the SL which is a switched live. i.e. only switch the boiler on when the boilermate needs it. So the boilers own thermostat was switching itself off and on when the boiler pipe temperature was reached because the power was permanently on to the boiler. Problem is no pump is spinning on the boilermate because its not expecting the boiler to be on. So we ended up with a massive gas bill, worn boiler fan assembly and a lot of noise coming from the pipes.

Switched the live from L to the SL and now problems are resolved. Makes me wonder how some of these house builders get away with it, no wonder the last home owners went bankrupt with the boiler on 24/7.

Thanks

Mark
