Need to isolate the hot water so I can service my shower...

Post  mc1903 on Wed Apr 08, 2015 12:58 pm

Hi,

This is probably a stupid question - but I do I.T. and not plumbing/heating - so I thought I should check first.

I have a Boilermate A-Class OV and I cannot see how to isolate the hot water supply from it.

I need to change the flow valve in my shower (which unfortunately does not have it's own isolation valves) so I need to isolate both hot/cold supplies elsewhere.

The cold I can just turn off the mains at the stopcock. But for the hot do I just switch off the boiler in the kitchen and then switch off the Boilermate in the airing cupboard? Before opening the hot & cold taps until they both run dry?

Seems very wasteful to let all the stored hotwater just go down the drain.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Just turn the unit off.
Then the main stopcock.
Turn on hot and cold outlets.
Water will stop.
You will NOT waste any stored water as you do not use it.
It goes through a plate heat exchanger. Bit like a combi boiler.
