Hi Mike,

My Pulsacoil2000 is 10 years old this October (2015). It's still working well but I've been warned about possible cylinder leaks due to age etc. Do you think I should bite the bullet and replace it ? If so do you recommend a particular model ?

Thanks

Joe

If it is not leaking / losing water why change it.
But Gledhill do a unit which is stainless steel now.
Connections are much the same.
Wiring too.

Pulsacoil2000 - 10 years old Empty Pulsacoil 2000 Replacement Alternative

Post  ViperCohen Wed May 27, 2015 4:49 am

Hi Mike,

I have a split cylinder on my PulsaCoil 2000, I have been looking into the possible replacements and I reluctant to fit another PulsaCoil as I have had nothing but problems with it and it has cost me thousands in repairs over the last 5 years.

Can you recommend an alternative replacement?

I have been looking at the Tristor, have you fitted these?

What would you charge me to fit one and what is your availability?
I have looked at getting it installed by PulsaCoil 2000 but they want to charge me £1000 to install it, does this seem reasonable?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thousands in 5 years!
I find that hard to believe.
Where are you located?
There are a few units on the market.
Albion
Range
And others make thermal stores.

Gledhill now do a stainless steel unit.

What has been your problems over the last 5 years?
Is it unit related?
Or bad install?
Or bad repairers?

You can contact me via my website.
Provide more information.
And pictures if you wish.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for coming back to me, I think I have been unlucky with the unit and the repairers.

It seems that every six months or so I have had to have the night element replaced. I have had the circuit board replaced, the heat exchange and contactor. Also had three timers since I moved in.

I will try and upload images when I get home tonight.

Hi Mike,

I have looked into several units and I have decided to go with a telford tristor.

Which would you say is better the copper or stainless cylinder? They have a similar price and both come with a 10 year warranty.

This is the Copper thermal store https://www.goplumbdirect.com/cylinders/1670-telford-tristor-open-vented-thermal-store-180-litres-tsv180c-.html

This is the Stainless Steel thermal store https://www.goplumbdirect.com/cylinders/2282-telford-tristor-open-vented-thermal-store-180-litres-tssv180.html

Also I am looking for someone to install it, I live in Drake House, St Georges Wharf, SW London. I tried to put images on here but I have been unable to upload them.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Paul.
