Dirty water from hot tap
Hi,
I've recently started getting dirty water coming out of the hot water taps. I've tried a few in the house. It's a sort of light brown colour. Header tank is happy and full to the line. I cleaned it out and added fresh inhibitor a few months ago. Cold water line is fine, all clear.
Water seems to run clear after you've ran the taps for a few minutes. Only thing I can think of is a problem with the heat exchanger? Corrosion seeping through this into the hot water supply line? Any ideas?

Re: Dirty water from hot tap
What about when you run the cold taps?
Clear or coloured.
If it is coming from outside.
If only the hot taps then it does seem the PHE is faulty.
Your location?

Hi Mike,
Cold tap was OK. Clear.
Strangely, this only happened 2 or 3 times and has been fine for the past month. I'm keeping a close eye on things. Can't think what it could have been. Thought it could have been a corroded PHE causing store water to leak into the feed but baffled why it suddenly would have stopped if this was the case.
I'm round the Manchester area. Do you operate near here?
Simon

Re: Dirty water from hot tap
No I am in Norwich, Norfolk.
Used to go to Salford many years ago.
It could be something with in the system somewhere that caused the problem
A conflict of different metals can cause problems.
Keep an eye on it.
