Boilermate iii - pcb keeps blowing

Post  simonh on Tue Apr 04, 2017 2:16 am

I have a Boilermate iii linked to a Potterton Suprima boiler and came home one day and found that the whole heating system had stopped working. No power to the boiler and none to the Cylinder. I replaced the fuse in the fused spur feeding the Boilermate and this resulted in a flash from the lower holes in the cover panel . I pulled the cover and noticed that the 3.15amp fuse on the lower pcb had also blown. I replaced this and the fused spur fuse again but got no power. When I used a circuit tester I found that power was going from the fused spur to the pcb but then stopping and I guess the rest of the control board then feeds the Boiler which is why that was not working. I then bought a replacement pcb and fitted this but this then subsequently blew the same way. Could you give some advice as to the cause of the problem? I checked one of the pumps towards the front of the cistern and this seemed to spin freely. The one at the rear which has the diverter valve above it I have not checked?

Thanks

simonh

You need to clear / locate the fault.
It could even be the Potterton Boiler.
Might need to get someone out.
