Boilermate 2000 Timer Replacement

Post  RG58 on Wed Nov 15, 2017 6:03 am

It appears that the timer on our 15 year-old Boilermate 2000 has packed up.  The central heating is on constantly if the switch is either in the Timed or On position although it is still being switched off and on via the thermostat.

I believe it is a Gledhill XP215.  My question is, can it be replaced by any electro mechanical timer?  I can buy a replacement for £70 but Screwfix have a timer made by a company called Greenbrook for £12.29 and advertised as "230V / 16(2)A. Ideal for most heating applications.".  Would that suffice?

Boilermate timer

Hi, I recently replaced the timer with a digital version from eBay - it's a perfect fit and the back box holds it firmly in position. I did spend a bit of time making the connections properly using soldered on lugs etc and it is better as allows your more flexible control.

I could probably find a link this evening if required

I believe the cost was around £15 inc postage.

Boilermate 2000 timer

This is the one I used, you could of course just leave it switched permanently on and replace the wall thermostat with a modern digital version allowing you to programme the heating.
