Towel rail

Post  lenny21 on Thu Jan 25, 2018 2:53 am

I’ve a bm2000 and ideal classic boiler. The bm is on the top floor and my bathrooms are on the middle floor. Can I simply replace my existing radiators for towel rails or will it cause problems? They both have thermostatic valves on them and I’m hoping to do the same with the towel rails. Any advice or pitfalls to avoid. Thanks in advance.

That will be fine.
If the unit was on the top floor
And the towel rail were too.
Then you must ensure that the top of any rad or rail is 250mm below the F & E tank water level.

Brilliant thanks Mike. I was a little frightened of doing it in case I stuffed up the system but since draining down the system and fitting two new pumps valves and pcb I have a little faith in my capabilities. I need to clean the system and then get them fitted. Just wanted to make sure it wouldn’t affect the system. ????

Unit 150 litres = 1.5 bottles plus the rads 1 bottle for every 10 rads.
Unit 180 litres = 1.8 bottles plus
Unit 200 litres = 2 bottles plus the rads.
Always go over not under.
A cheap cleaner run for a months is ok.
