BP 220 settings

Post  indigo on Sat Feb 10, 2018 9:55 am

We had both of the coils replaced in our boiler when we moved into the flat however if you run just the hot water from the taps it is far too hot - is there a way to reduce this at the boiler? I think the plumber may have maxed out the settings when he installed the new pieces.

Also, I read that ideally, this kind of boiler is set up on an economy 7 plan, however, we just have a normal tariff. We never use the top element as there is only two of us so there is always plenty of hot water. As there is no timer on the ring that the bottom element is hooked up to, would it save any money if I was to switch off the lower section every day say from 9 am until we went to sleep? Then I could switch it on manually overnight so there was hot water for the showers in the morning? Seems a waste to have it on all day.

Post  indigo on Wed Feb 14, 2018 8:29 am

Hi Mike,

The unit is a Pulsacoil BP 220. Apologies for not including this in the actual post, I had only referenced this in the title.

Thanks,
indigo.

PC BP
Take cover off.
Top right hand corner is a;
Mixer valve or Blending valve.
Prob a green cap on it.
Put your hand on the cap and turn it towards the unit (clockwise)
That will turn temp down
Unless the valve is faulty.
Half a turn at a time with the hot water running.
50C is the norm
