Replacement Grundfos Pump Empty Replacement Grundfos Pump

Post  gles on Thu Jan 24, 2019 4:55 am

Hi all,

Can someone help me by confirming that this is the correct replacement for the hot water pump in my Boilermate 2000?

plumbnation.co.uk/boiler-spares/product/gledhill-xb004-grundfos-15-50-pump-130mm-2-x-gt116-gaskets/

The pump that's currently installed (and failed) is labelled "Grundfoss Type UPS 15-50X18" but from reading these forums it seems I'm looking for a Gledhill XB004 pump to replace.

I just wanted to ask to be double sure that I'm ordering the correct pump since the pump I have in my Boilermate doesn't seem to have the part number XB004 anywhere on the label.

Thanks in advance!

Replacement Grundfos Pump Empty Re: Replacement Grundfos Pump

I'd say it is highly likely to be correct given PlumbNation are a reputable company and list this as suitable for almost all of the Gledhill appliances of that era. It is certainly the correct format of pump so I'd expect it to work even though it doesn't bear the X018 number. Grundfos make a bewildering number of pumps in this general format all visually identical by with different product numbers, once you look into it carefully.

I'm curious as to why you say your pump needs replacing though. They rarely need replacing. If the pump is sticky and failing to start then a new start capacitor could be all it needs.

This is very useful information. I am thinking that I will have do the same replacement soon. The pump has got quite noisy and one can hear it coming on and off when the shower is in use. I assume it is not too hard a job to replace?
