Hot water is coming only for an hour in morning Empty Hot water is coming only for an hour in morning

I just moved into a new apartment which has pulsacoil a-class bolier. I get hot water only for an hour in the morning. We have standard meter. I dont think the apartment has E7 tariff. I have read the manual. There is water heater programmer on the wall. I dont know the settings about that. May be it is set like that so that off-peak heater is on during night time and i get hot water for an hour only. My questions are very simple on the settings. Can you please help answering them?

1. two switches on the wall - off-peak and on-peak. Since we do not have E7 tariff, should we switch on both the switches everytime?
2. There is a switch on the programmer which we have set as "timed". There is a 24 hr timer like watch. That represents the time of day/night. It is make of Newlec immersion heater control. Off peak light on the controller becomes on some time in night. And we get hot water for an hour in morning. Only sufficient for one person's bath. We use the boost button on bolier to get the hot water during day time. But we need hot water all day along.
We got a suggestion to only switch on on-peak switch and switch off off-peak button. We tried that and we got hot water in evening for 3 hours. But next morning we didnt get any water. Was it because off-peak was switched off? Can we leave both the swtiches on forever and expect hot water through out the day? Any advice will be really hopeful as we are sturggling to get stable hot water. Regards
Dinesh

I am confused now. Can some one help me to identify the settings on controller which will give me hot water through out the day?

Hi Dinesh

The On peak switch on the Pulsacoil A Class also powers the internal control system and this should be left on all of the time. If it is off, you will not get any hot water at all at any time.
The settings for the time control should be set from 1am to 7am to obtain cheap rate electricity, although some suppliers only start their cheap rate at 2am. The timer is usually powered by the Off peak switch, and this should be left on all the time too.

You should find that this will give you hot water when you need it.

I called up Gledhill technical. They said for pulsacoil a-class, there is a limit of 145 litre of hot water with off-peak immersion heater. So, if your shower has flow rate of 12 litres/min and you take a 10 mins of shower of daily, you almost consume the hot water. So, nothing is left for yr family. If you need additional hot water beyond that, you have to press the boost button daily for an hour which will give you 60 litres of hot water with the on-peak heater.
I was also wondering about the boiler which is very cold. Its not hot at all. My friend has also got same boiler. Their storeroom where boiler is kept is hot. So, as per them, boiler not necessarily be very hot. Only the pipe which carries the hot water will be 72c. But out pipes are covered with some type of rexin cover. So, i cant test if the pipe is hot. They informed if you want to test, call any heating engineer. But, i think i will have to observe for a day or two and see if we get 145 lits of water daily.

Yes this is correct. but try to get ECO 10 from your electric supplyer ( southern energy. eon, or so)
For a normal family u will need in a day about 250 to 300 l hot water. This means 2 to 3 times the capacity of the biler contence ( 2 to 3 heat-ups in a day).
U will get this from eco 10 ( pos. supy from 2 - 7am and from 9 - 11am and 2pm - 5pm). This will get u def. mor hot water.]
