Pulsa Coil Class A - Query - Do you know if it has any design faults? Empty Pulsa Coil Class A - Query - Do you know if it has any design faults?

Dear Mike
Thank you for your useful site, I am experieninge problems with the Pulsa Coil Class A boiler and have not hot water via timer (Nobo stem) nor using the Pulsa's off peak switch ... this leads me to think that it is an issue with the boiler (it is very noisy and makes gurgling noises). I have heard rumours that this type of boiler has a design fault, in your experience is this the case or am I just experiencing a glitch do you think? As I live in a new build property I'm trying to get this fixed under the defects route but thereafter how frequently do you suggest getting the unit serviced and how much does it cost to engage a appropriately qualified electrician to do this? Thank you.

Hi robinson,

Well yes, all of the Gledhill appliances have design 'faults', just like all other manufacturer's products...

The fact that your Pulsacoil makes gurgling noises suggests you have let the top-up tank on top of it run dry. Fill it up to the waterline and the noise should go away.

The A-Class pulsacoil also suffers from burned out power relays which stop the unit heating up. Yours may need replacing/upgrading. Cost is widely variable depending on where you live. The Nobo control system ALSO has a tendancy to fail and a new relay module may be needed.

Cheers, Mike
