Does green on/off switch need to be on all the time? Empty Does green on/off switch need to be on all the time?

Hi there,

I've just moved into a flat with a pulsacoil A-class thermal storage system. I'm keen to only use off peak electricity to heat up the pulsacoil and have set the off peak timer to come on at 1am and off at 7am.

There are 2 electric switches on the wall next to the pulsacoil. One says 'off peak' on it and includes the timer. I have left this on. The 2nd switch says 'on peak'. When this is switched on, you can press the boost button on the pulsacoil and it works.

However when the 'on peak' switch is off, the green on/off switch on the pulsacoil doesn't come on.

I think the 'on peak' switch might actually be the power supply to the pulsacoil - it enables you to use the boost but also provides power when the off peak kicks in at night.

My simple question is - does the green on/off switch need to be on and illuminated all of the time? If yes, then I will leave the 'on peak' switch on continually. If it doesn't, I will turn the 'on peak' switch off.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Lucy

Hi Lucy,

Both switches need to be ON all the time. The A-Class will only heat up at night unless you manually press the 'boost' button.

Yes the On Peak supply also runs the pump and control board, so hot water comes out of a hot tap whenever you turn it ON. Hardly any coatt associated with that though.

Hope that helps.

Cheers, Mike

Thanks ever so much Mike. It's a relief to know I'm not using on peak electricity! Lucy
