Another burnt relay - retrofit relay upgrade? Empty Another burnt relay - retrofit relay upgrade?

Post  saffronsabu Thu Sep 15, 2011 7:21 am

Hello all,

I've a PulsaCoil A Class heater in my flat and I'm having the common problem with the relays. In January one of the relays burnt out pretty badly and had actually melted the plastic around it and was stuck to its base. I had it fixed but the engineer used the same type of relay although a different manufacturer (Durakool). This relay is now starting to go after only 9 months as I can smell the same burnt electronic type odour. I had a look to confirm this.

Having read up on the problems with the relays should I just replace them with the retro fit upgraded relays or is there some underlying problem causing the problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Replace with retrofit kit and it will resolve your problem.

Kind regards

Thanks for the quick response Gary.

So is it just bad luck on my part that two relays have gone in 9 months or will the relays on every PulsaCoil A Class eventually go prematurely?

With the original relays fitted they will all eventually burn out, replace with the retrofit kit and it will resolve your issue.

Thanks for this thread and replies. Is it possible to give a rough idea of how much time it would take to replace it? An estimation of cost would be much appreciated too in terms of the parts - presumably the supplier usually has these in stock?

Thanks
