High electricity bills Empty High electricity bills

Post  ljrossi88 Thu Apr 26, 2012 7:14 am

Hi.

My girlfriend and I use E-On as our energy provider and have been hit with an astronomical bill of almost £700 for this month's electricity consumption.

I contacted the company and they explained that this was an 'adjustment' - meaning that we had been grossly undercharged for our previous bills. Even accepting this, by my calculations that would have meant an energy bill of £105 a month for two people sharing a modern one-bedroom flat.

We're not wasteful, don't leave lights on and rarely use the heating.

We have a Pulsacoil 2000 system in our flat, and the only thing I can think of is that it has been operating in boost mode for a large amount of the time. According to the instructions, this function is 'under our control'; but I'm damned if I know how!

Is it possible that the system has malfunctioned, or is it something I can remedy myself?

Thanks, Louis

Well the pc 2000 has 2 heaters.
Bottom one is for E7 half price electric.
Top one for boost.
You should be using the bottom one only.
Perhaps you can get a good electrician to check what you have etc.
But I would add that £105:00p per month for electric is £3:50p per day for 2 people.
Hot water, Cooking? Lights, TV etc etc.

Thanks for that.

How would I go about disabling the top heater? Is that something I could do myself or would I be better off getting an electrician to do it?

Depends on your set up.
Normally you just switch it off.
May by marked as ON PEAK.
OFF PEAK IS the bottom one.
If not post some pictures of your switch arrangement.
