Emergency Heating & Hotwater
Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to use the emergency heating & hotwater regularly. I realise electric is more expensive than gas but I'm thinking about solar panels and whether it's ok to keep the gas boiler running whilst turning on the emergency heating during the day to make the most of the solar electric.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Solar PV
As far as I know if you generate electric using PV panels then you would be paid for each kilowatt generated and passed to the grid. If the price is the same or lower than the price they charge you for consumption from the grid then use the heater instead of the boiler in summer when the PV output is high. If the price is higher than the price you pay to consume it then sell it all at a profit. It is possible to intergrate hot water solar panels to a boilermate using an additional heat exchanger and 3 port valve.
