Will only heat when boost on, again after three weeks URGET HELP

Post  domesticated on Sat Oct 30, 2010 3:50 am

I had a new thermostat put in about three weeks ago which had to be replaced again yesterday. The boiler is still not heating (only on boost) I have checked the black pop-out switch but it is OK.. (The boiler is six years old and I have about 6 new thermostats put in, and at about £100 a time it is getting very expensive) Could it be a air lock this time (how do I clear it) and if not could I put the thermostat from the top tank into the bottom one until the engineer can get back out (which will be another week because he only comes to the North East on a Friday). so it will heat up on the economy tarrif

I have had the thermostat changed that often I could change it my self now. The engineer said if it whent again somthing about draining the tank etc.

If you have small thermostats under the lid of the immersion heaters then yes you can change the boost thermostat with the bottom one. The small pop out button on them sometimes requires pressing below the level of the plastic thermostat housing. If the manual reset overheat stat has tripped then turn the thermostat dual down a few degrees to help stop the overheat stat tripping. Is the bottom heater ok, What is its resistance between L&N and between L&E?

Being a meager female what dose resistance between L&N and between L&E mean? It is the pulsa coil 2000 boiler where you screw the black covers off to remove or reset the stats. (Ithink if I keep this boiler any longer I will be able to set up as an engineer)

Hi;
You could look on the home page of this site to see if there is any one in your area.
If you have not got the book on your unit, down load one from Gledhill website (free)
Or if in so much trouble and you can not find anyone contact Gledhill whom will give you a fixed price repair,which sometimes will include break down cover for a year.
After that break down cover is approx £90.00 per year parts and labour.
You can try going on Google and typing in Pulsacoil 2000 repairs for your area, and see who comes up.
Mike.
I am an Engineer whom works on Gledhill unit a lot.
There are many things to consider with these units, sometimes the faults can be weird or more than one choice of fault.
I am be coming more and more reluctant to give advice to the lay man for fear of some one getting hurt by trying to repair these units themselves.
Any way I must go as I'm now going to try and find a forum about dentistry as I need to fill a tooth ( example)
