Thermostat swapping

Hello

The off peak overheat thermostat in my Pulsacol 2000 keeps tripping, I've bought a new thermostat on keeptheheaton.com and i will swap it, a few years ago this problem was solved by swapping thermostats.
The new thermostat is the same as the old one the only difference is that it has a red plastic cap and it says 20A 240 V, the old one has a black cap and it says 16A 240 V
Is this ok or I have bought the wrong thermostat?

I would say that the 20 amp may last longer.
Is it a safety stat?

The thermostat I’m swapping is the Gledhill 11" Rod Thermosta ( off peak ) , is this the safety stats? Sorry I’m not very familiar with the terminology, as I mentioned before the one I've just bought is slightly different from the old one they new one has 20A 240V the old one 16A 240V but you say that's not a problem?

As you know the Rod Thermostat has a tiny pin at the base witch every now and again pops out, and the boiler stops working, I have to push it back in with a nail skrew driver – A few years ago I had this problem and an engineer solved the problem by swapping both rod thermostats
Swapping thermostat seems pretty easy and straight forward and I would like to do it myself this time, is there anything I should know?

Make you you isolate all supplies
And get the wire in the holes and connect them tight.
And I'm not the Mike who started this site.

If you look at the stat, the size and the terminal screws etc.
It is a wonder they last that long!
In areas of vary hard water immersions can be replaced yearly.
Although incaloy heater will last longer than copper.
The Gledhill heaters are more money but seem to last longer.
All heaters which are mounted horizontally take a lot more stress and strain than a vertical one.
Always leaking at the rod stat pocket.
Which on the PC2000's if it is the top heater that then leaks to the bottom one.
Then 2 are required!
Any way if every thing lasted forever there would be no work!

I'm a bit confused, the rod thermostat has no contact with the water, it is inserted in the rod thermostat pocked wich has no water in it, ( unless its leaking ) so can the hardness of the water affect the rod thermostat performance?
