Replacing my defunct electramate. 9kw Empty Replacing my defunct electramate. 9kw

Less than impressed with Gledhill response who diagnosed a terminal failure of the copper storage tanks on my 9Kw electramate 2000. Bit expensive at £500! I was never happy with the electramate. It ate relays & required constant attention to keep it reliable.
So now I'm looking urgently for a replacement. Thanks Mike for calling me back while on holiday..... So far Thermaflow are the front runners. Almost exactly the same price but with a 25 year guarantee rather than the 5 year limited warranty of the gledhill unit. I have recieved a less than detailed quote from Gledhill response for a replacement unit. With little information as to what I would actually be buying. At £3600 installed with the £500 knocked off. So why is the Thermaflow coming in at the same price????
Thermaflow are recommending there th9/250u as a direct replacement. They were knowledgeable & helpful. They are also providing an installer. So your off the hook Mike. They hold fully built units in stock so could be fitted in a week. And they say it will work fine on economy 7 which is what I have.
Just waiting for another installer to come back with his recommendation & quote before proceeding. Oh & the bank to lend me the money...... Because although my elctramate was old. It never occurred to me that the tanks filled with corrosion inhibitor would corrode through so soon. The unit is ten years old.

Thermoflow recommended the TH9-230u/mk2 as a direct replacement for the electramate 2000 9kw. I actually ordered the Thermoflow  TH9-330/mk2 This is a third larger than the 2000 so can store more off peak heat. It's little different in price. About £150 more. Hopefully this will give lower running costs and cope better with hard Winters.  The electramate was mostly running on peak rate electricity & was not cheap to run. Price wise there was nothing in it between Gledhill & Thermoflow. Despite a so called discount from Gledhill of £500 to cover what they charged me to come out & tell me my electramate was beyond repair!!
The unit was fitted today by Neat Heat of Glasgow.  The stainless steel construction & 25 year warranty on the store are a big improvement on any of the Gledhill products. The Thremoflow costs about the same & they did talk to me for some time & explain the different options & exactly what I would be getting. Which Gledhill would not do. It fits fine in the old boiler cupboard & went in through the door without issues. As I have separate supplies for normal & off peak electricity it also needed a programmer to switch between the two as the new unit is designed to take one supply. This would also be needed for economy 10 should I opt for that later. I have to congratulate Neat heat for a tidy & rapid installation. They supplied & fitted the unit in under 2 weeks. Neat heat are a sister company to Thermoflow.
Thanks again Mike for the advice. I will pop back & update this when the new boiler has had time to settle down & when my tenant reports back on the running costs compared to the old unit.
