what sealant required for immersion heater ? Empty what sealant required for immersion heater ?

Post  whiphubley Wed May 11, 2011 4:52 am

I plan to fit a new off peak immersion heater but wonder what sealant is required ?

Presumably it requires a bit more than a few wraps of thread tape !

Can anyone please advise ?

Thankyou.

PTFE tape is fine, you can use a little jet lube if you prefer.

Kind regards

I would strongly recommend you only use PTFE tape. I have heard of jobs where people have used joining compound only later to find it is next to impossible to remove the element later.
