No Hot Water Empty No Hot Water

Post  Mukul Jain Tue Mar 22, 2011 1:19 am

Hi

We are not getting hot water from the boiler since Friday. The boiler was working fine before that. On Friday suddenly it stopped heating water. I checked the water level in the overhead tank, it was a bit low so I filled it with water, but since then the water is not getting heated properly. We just get lukewarm water even after keeping the boiler on for 7-8 hours.

If i turn the booster on, occassionally we get hot water after couple of hours and that too does not last for more than a shower.

Any pointers on how to diagnose this will be of great help.

Many thanks in advance
Mukul

Is the store warm? if so check sensors, if not...

Test immersions with a multimeter and also check that the state of the relays.

Kind regards

HI Gary

thanks for the quick response..
by store, do you mean the overhead water tank? If yes, it becomes warm occassionally..and sometimes it is hot as well when I ahve the booster on.

also in terms of the flashing light, I have observed that sometimes it blinks 2 times in a sec, sometimes it just blinks once..

The store is the thermal store, the Gledhill itself.

Do you have access to a multi meter? If so test the immersions, you should have a reading of 18ohms on each element.

Hi

I had the boiler on since last night and the store was lukewarm in the morning.
So i switched to booster couple of hours back and now the pipes etc seem to be hot. But not sure how much hot water I can get out of the boiler.

I do not have a multimeter with me as of now. May have to buy one from the market.
Is there any other way I can check?

Im afraid without a multi meter you are unable to carryout any of the tests.
