No Hot Water

Post  Westside on Thu Nov 10, 2011 2:02 pm

Hi, I have recently bought a flat with a Pulsecoil 2000.

It has Economy 7 timer.

On the PCB board the red light flashes two flashes followed by a pause and two flashes again.

The green and rent lights/indicators on the unit do not come on.

When i rotate the clock on the timer it appears to cut in (red light goes on - on the economy 7 timer) but nothing happens on the main unit.

The grey tank on the top of the unit is filled with water about half way.

The unit may have been switched off for over a year when the flat was empty.

So I cannot get any hot water.

Fuses in wall are both OK checked! Unit was installed in 2005

Any suggestions please?

Hi

The light sequence of two flashes followed by a pause is correct for the Pulsacoil 2000.
To narrow down the cause of the problem, I first need to know if the unit itself is getting warm. If it is, and if the apartment has been empty for a year then the most probable cause is that the pump has become stuck.
If the unit is cold then the problem is more than likely with either an element or thermostat failure, for which you will require an engineer.

It would certainly help if the overheat thermostat has shut down.
Just make sure the power is turned off at ALL THREE SWITCHES before you remove the front panel.
