pc2000 overheating?

I have seen the previous posts on this matter but still need advice!

Last week there was no hot water, we opened cupboard and it was really hot, condensation everywhere and the door frame was warped from the heat. This had only been on the off peak setting. We turned system off and had a plumber round to look. He diagnosed the tank being nearly empty and it had been bubbling like a nealry empty kettle causing the steam. The tank was drained, pump replaced, tank re-filled again. It was all turned on again to off peak, a few hours later, we had hot water again.

But, i woke the next morning and it sounded really noisy and main tank feels very warm to touch at the top. Do you think it is the thermostat that means it is continually heating? Or is it me being paranoid, as i recall it always heated up water early morning?

any suggestions would be gratefully received!!!

Check the stat in the bottom heater (off peak)
Also some of the older PC 2000's had relays.
Should not be hard for any decent electrician or plumber to sort out.

Thanks for reply Mike. We had a new stat fitted on off peak but now it isnt hot enough. I adjusted the tempreture to max on the stat after a few days but it has made no difference. Water is only warm in mornings and I have not heard the system heating up over night like it used to. Do you think when the system overheated itself it tripped the system. If so is there a re-set button anywhere? I have scanned the forum and seen some re-set posts but when ive looked at pcb board I can not see any re-set button.

Or am i on wrong track with it needing a re-set? Would there be another reason off peak is now not working after pump and stat have been replaced?

Any clues would be greatly appreciated!

The stat may have tripped.
If so it is the wrong one.
Google up resetting a rod stat or stem thermostat.
Then look at yours.
Or post a picture on here

Confirm it is the correct stat. It should reach 70oC the part number is XB081
