How much hot water should i expect from my Pulsacoil 2000

is there a calculation to work out how much hot water i should expect?

the night rate electricity runs from c1230am to c730am. So, if we get up at 10am on a Sunday and take 2 showers and then run the dishwasher and washing machine the water left is warm at best.

What size is your unit?

You do not need the washing machine to use hot water from the Pulsacoil, this has his own heater in it and most washing today is going on 30*c . have you try to get economy 10 ,course I guess you are on eco7 electric tariff. One heat up ( as at eco7 tariff) will give you ( depending on the Pulsacoil model) from about 120 to 200 litre of hot water, all your taps are on normal pressure and run with about 8litre/min ( basing) to 12litre/min (shower) to 18 litre/minute ( bath tap), so in total about 12 to 15 minutes ( as you mixing about 40% cold water to it). So ask your energy supplier (edf, British gas , Scotish power....?) for an economy 10 electric tariff. this will give you 3 lots of hot water in a day ( with eco 7 only one)

And also.
Make sure you have not got a leak anywhere on the hot pipe work / outlets.
The smaller the unit the less DHW.
The size of the unit is normally calculated by the developer / installer etc.
Many do undersize them.
Most dishwashers are cold fill only.
Washing machines are too.
If yours are hot & cold fill.
Then buy a Y connector. This connects the Hot & cold pipe from the machine to the cold supply.
Both have to be connected if not most machines would not work.
Nearly all washing is carried out at 40c or even less.

the storage capacity is 170L, hence if I assume showering only at 12L per minute then that would give me c15 minutes of hot water . . . . . which feels about enough time for 2 to 3 showers. During the week I get up 2 hours before the eco7 tariff finishes - hence adding potentially more time.

the boiler (Pulsacoil 2000, APC2025) came with the apartment (2 bedrooms) which was newly built.

I do find it hard to see how the boiler could work for one person who gets up in the morning after eco7 finishes and goes to bed before it starts. 15 minutes is cutting it fine. Certainly cant really work for 2 people.

170 litre unit should give you enough shower.
If not fit an eco save to the shower hose.
This will cut the flow rate down a bit.
When it goes cold
Are the pipe on top of the unit hot?

Yes - when the shower runs out of hot water in the evening the top of the boiler is still hot (and the pipe leading up out of it).

(in the evening I put the boost on at c7pm - my fiancée has a hot shower and i have most of a hot shower an hour or so later).

Well that is strange.
If the the pipes on top of the unit are really hot.
Then I would expect hot water.
Also your unit is 170 litres. That is not the amount of hot water you get.
That is the amount with in the thermal store.
Which is similar to a battery. Instead of electricity it is charged with heat.
So next thing is look at your rod stats in the heaters.
They should be sealed / set to their temperature. 72c but check in your book.
If in doubt, swop them over. top in bottom and vice a versa.
Because if the unit is not charging enough you will get reduced hot water.
Also the bottom stat may be out as in calibration.
Another thing to check is the unit full?
Best way is to put hose on drain off in unit ( there are 2)
If using the one above the pump make sure water does not drip onto pump cover as you could lose the pump.
Drain water out and the level in the top tank should drop. If it does ok.
Top up tank and all ok.
If it does not drop then a blockage, hence low on water hence not enough heat.
