WARNING: - Gledhill Water Storage Limited, Gledhill Response Limited, Gledhill Building Products Limited, Gledhill.net - DO NOT USE!

I don’t usually write reviews, however I felt compelled after the experience I have had with my Pulsacoil electric boiler(s) and Gledhill Water Storage Limited, Gledhill Response Limited, Gledhill Building Products Limited, Gledhill.net or whatever name they decide to call themselves next!

In October 2010 my Gledhill Pulsacoil a class had a leak from the bottom, I called Gledhill Response Limited at an initial cost of £300 plus pounds (can’t remember the exact amount now) and was told that it was irrepairable and that I needed a new one, The boiler was new as was my flat when I moved in 2005.

At the time I asked Gledhill if my boiler was covered under any warranty. Gledhill Response informed me that my boiler was made by another company (Gledhill Water Storage Limited) and that they had gone into administration and had nothing to do with the new Gledhill group of companies… I am still a little confused with this matter, as even now on the Gledhill.net website it clearly states that the company was founded in the 1920’s. I will be contacting the company administrator’s to see if they are legal allowed to associate themselves with a company in one hand, then when it suits them to get out of a warranty issues with faulty boilers then disassociate themselves.

I was assured by Gledhill Response that the new Pulsacoil BP boiler manufactured by their sister company Gledhill Building Products Limited was a much better boiler and that I would have no problems with it and I had a five-year warranty covering me should anything go wrong. I reluctantly went ahead with the new Pulsacoil BP installation at an additional cost of nearly £1600.00.
I woke up Monday 28/05/2014 to find nearly an inch of water flooding down my hallway, ruining my wooden flooring and skirting boards, the water was pouring over the plastic tank that sits on top of the boiler, I immediately called Gledhill Response who informed me that they couldn’t get out to me until Wednesday!

I called Joe my local plumber who came straight away and shut down the mains water to the flat as the internal pipework inside the Pulsacoil BP boiler is leaking.
Gledhill Response have informed me that my Pulsacoil BP (even though it’s not four years old) is not fully covered and the warranty I have is sliding scale, They said I will need to make a contribution toward a new Pulsacoil BP! A contribution of £1200.00!

Are they having an f****** laugh, I’m not having another one!

I am currently without any water at my property since Monday and completely out of pocket, any alternative boiler suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
These companies (Gledhill Water Storage Limited, Gledhill Response Limited, Gledhill Building Products Limited or Gledhill.net) are rip-off merchants and I would advise anyone to steer well clear of them, they basically have a licence to print money.

Gledhill produce inferior products at inflated prices and giving warranties that are not worth the paper they are printed on.
I will be contacting Trading Standards and BBC Watchdog and would urge anyone else who has had a similar experience to do the same.

Sad to hear that.
But I am under the impression that;
The unit has a guarantee for 5 years.
The other components 1 year.
So I think you should look at that and then go back to them.
It sounds as if the internal coil has failed.
Which can / could be manufacturing fault.
Other plumbing works carried out and contamination by other materials.
Have you got a water softener?

Hi Mike,

I thought the same thing turns out that it’s a sliding scale warranty which only replaces the unit in the first year, after the first year it’s called "a sliding scale warranty" and gledhill would only give me a discount off a new boiler.

I have now replaced the pulsacoil with a new boiler, needless to say not a gledhill pulsacoil.

Good riddance to rubbish pulsacoil crap.
