Boilermate leak around the expansion pipe
I have a 20 year old Boilermate II. I'm observing a leak around the expansion pipe connecting the top small cylinder to the heat exchanger cylinder below. Could someone please advise if this can be fixed by simply tightening the nut ?
Since the hot water level in this expansion pipe is upto the expansion tank above, how could it be drained to bring it lower than the heat exchanger tank while tightening the same ?

Its a fibre washer that will have gone, tightening will probably make it disintegrate. You need a new 3/4" tap connector washer and if you empty the top tank you should be able to undo it without much water coming out.
